Ehhhh service was a bit rough, drinks/dishes sent to the wrong people, no straws, stale chips, half of our table got their food 5+mins before the rest did. Service picked up when another worker checked on us but yeah... I'd say save your money on this one.
I will note I've come here for dinner previously and really liked their molcajete, now that was worth it.
pretty standard little Mexican restaurant, decent but unspectacular food with friendly staff, the place itself has some character.
One of my top 3 Hispanic Restaurants in the Asheville region. They are not just Mexican. They have Cuban, Honduran, Peruvian, Colombian dishes as well. There tacos are wonderful. They have lamb, carne, shrimp, pescado and other meat or vegetarian selections. Large menu. Good service. All around good place to eat. Prices are reasonable for what you get. We were very pleasantly surprised. Recommended highly.
Clean, comfy booths... Friendly, attentive staff... ABSOLUTELY THE BEST guacamole salad and chicken fajitas I've had ANYWHERE! Seasoned, prepared, and presented like you'd expect in a much more expensive place - so glad we stopped!
I had to pick up materials in the industrial park nearby & googled top rated restaurants by distance. This restaurant was at the top of the list. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa - a Columbian dish. First off, it was an immense amount of food!! I didn't even realize there was white rice in the container until the second time I ate it. The chorizo was by far the best I've ever eaten!! Texture was great & flavor was fantastic - a mix of traditional & some spices new to me in chorizo. The half avocado was fresh & green. The carne asada was terrific - both tasty & tender. The chicharrones were excellent - crunchy & when dunked in their jalapeno salsa, phenomenal! The fried plantains were cooked perfectly & there were quite a few. The little roasted chili peppers lit me right up - yum! The fried egg was crispy around the edges & cooked through - I kinda wish the yolk was runny. I was pleased with the arepa also - the addition of their mild salsa made it that much better. I'm already planning another trip from Bristol & bringing some friends! This restaurant is amazing!!!
Nice little hole in the wall place. This is very different from the "California style Mexican food" places that have taken over everything and they do have traditional dishes from many other Hispanic countries.
They have one of the best Molcajete I have had in the area. That is the giant lava rock bowl that shows up stuffed full and boiling hot.
I've eaten here for lunch on four occasions now over the past year or so. Service had been adequate ("C+") the first three times, but during the latest visit it was a solid "D", very poor (long wait, not especially friendly)... and the place wasn't crowded at all. The food also has proved to be average to below average, as compared to other Mexican restaurants in the Black Mountain - Swannanoa - East Asheville area. As far as the atmosphere goes, it's basically a hole in the wall, but the seats and booths were comfortable and the wall-mounted TV was showing football or soccer. There are certainly better choices if you're looking for tasty, well prepared Mexican fare in the area.
Food was packed full of flavor from the owners family recipes. A great change from what you would expect. Highly recommend
